feeding and walking

this weekend the sun finally came out. in addition to our new routine of going to get scrambled eggs and fresh squeezed oj for breakfast at westway diner, we also checked out some local parks. bailey was very happy to be swinging again and loved practicing her (still assisted) walking with all the other kids at the central park playground (including jasper!).

sorry i haven't been keeping the blog updated as regularly as i'd like. so much has changed in such a short time. we moved apartments (in the blizzard no less). i've gone back to work. and we got a great nanny who has played an integral role in teaching bailey lots of words and phrases like "head", "toes", "nose", "belly", "dance", "doggie", and "blow a kiss".

though not the best eater, bailey's favorite food right now is blueberries. and her favorite book is good night gorilla which she can read over and over again. also, she has magically taken a liking to hanging out in her crib.

here's a video of bailey on the new otterness slide with dad and a video of her cracking up at dinner.

i can't believe our little nugget turned one! she had a great birthday with friends and family.

the snowstorm in both nyc and dallas almost made grandma lam and uncle sam miss b's birthday. but they got to the restaurant just in the nick of time. in chinese tradition, bailey had to have noodles for her birthday (a symbol of long life). so we took her to morandi, an italian restaurant, that was actually the first restaurant bailey ever went to.

then the true celebration was last saturday. she had a big birthday blowout with one of her boyfriends, grant. thanks to the organization and hard work of grant's parents, the party was a big success! we had over 20 kids and over 50 guests total.

pamela, bailey's music teacher, performed some songs for the babies and had both the kids and adults dancing.

bailey had her first taste of cake, which thankfully wasn't a big hit. no more sweets for bailey until year 2 if we can help it.

thanks to everyone for making bailey's 1st birthday so special. here's a link to all her birthday photos.

1 yr doctor's visit

height: 29 in (48%)
weight:
17lb 14oz (7%)
head circumference:
45.5 cm (63%)

even though bailey is light for her age, the doctor didn't seem concerned. she seems to be on track developmentally.

in this visit, bailey had her first blood draw. it was quite traumatic, but after being presented with a dora sticker, everything was ok.

dancing

now whenever there's music playing, bailey likes to bop up and down. she also enjoys doing assisted somersaults (thanks to jasper), sitting in high chairs, eating bananas, saying "hello" and "bye bye", shaking her head no, and riding around in laundry baskets.

walking (kind of)
