bailey has not taken to pacifiers at all. however, she does LOVE her bunny. in fact, to soothe herself when she's out in her stroller, she ends up sucking on her bunny's nose as if it's a pacifier. so to the average viewer, it ends up appearing as if she is making out with her bunny. really, it is quite funny.
this week was very busy for me and bailey. we went to 3 new mommy groups and met alot of new moms and babies (and we have a few more to check out next week too). bailey did a great job at the 14 street y but was quite fussy at the real birth meeting.
today, she slept through the new parents meet up at le pain quotidien.
maybe she was just saving up her energy for her play date with baby bella (tina's adorable little one). born only 1 day apart from one another, the two girls ate, slept, pooped, and briefly looked at each other. here they are showing off some of their thuglike gang symbols.
now every morning, bailey looks forward to spending time on her quilt with the hanging dog and cat. sometimes, she reaches out and knocks her colorful dog over. unfortunately, it usually hits her in the face. :-(
using our memory foam topper and handmade quilt from grandma hunt's parishioner, we created a little play area for bailey. so far, she loves it. during her awake time, she talks to her stuffed animals and does tummy time on her whale mat (courtesy of aunt shlomit and aunt marni) here.
she's loving these toys so much, we're thinking of getting her a little baby gym. if anyone has any recommendations, let us know!
as bailey "sat" for her first portrait this morning, she managed to make her first GIANT poop! it was so very big that it came out of her diaper and got all over her pretty onesie.
it sounds twisted, but it made me a very proud mommy. :-)

also, this weekend, bailey had her first celebrity sighting. we said hello to ann curry from the today show when we saw her shopping at whole foods. ann was very nice and said "you made a baby that looks just like me."
on friday, grandma and grandpa headed back to michigan thus ending a month of family visits as well as bailey's first month of life.
a new baby, family camped out in the living room, and a big lazy beagle under the roof of a space-challenged new york city apartment can be stressful without a doubt. however, reflecting on the past month, i can't fathom having it any other way. in fact, the past month has revealed the abundance matt and i have in our lives. 
we are truly blessed.
grandma lam and hunt and grandpa lillvis gave so generously of themselves to make sure bailey's life in our family got off to a good start. they cooked, cleaned, walked the (big, lazy) beagle, and most importantly unconditionally loved us.

yesterday little b turned 1 month old. she woke up to her grandparents singing happy birthday to her and to beautiful yellow tulips. today, she went into daddy's office to see what the inner workings of a hedge fund office is like. althought everyone at the office seemed very nice, she decided she'd let daddy continue to bring home the bacon for now.
after that, bailey got a package from grandma lam of fancy french clothing. here she is showing off her new 3-piece outfit.
every morning it seems that bailey goes for longer and longer stretches of chatting. she especially likes to talk when i read to her or when i'm on the phone. as you can see, she kinda talks like a little monkey.
this weekend, the weather was beautiful! so after reading her wall street journal, bailey went to central park with grandma and grandpa lillvis. she did great in her baby bjorn all during lunch at blt market and while shopping up and down 5th avenue.
sunday, bailey also had a full day as she went to church early in the morning then met up with mr. and mrs. finley for lunch in chinatown.
after a very active morning of trying to converse with mom, grandma and grandpa, bailey went to the pediatrician and found out that she gained 2 lbs since she was born. she got a clean bill of health from the doctor and got her first vaccination in her thigh. she let out the most heart-wrenching wail, but it only lasted for a few seconds.

just before 3 weeks of age, bailey got to spend time with both her grandparents! she really enjoyed having 6 loving arms to hold her.
yesterday, grandma lam left after spending 2 weeks with her. every meal was a gourmet, home-cooked chinese treat for bailey (via mom's milk), mom and dad.
now, bailey will get to know her other grandparents for the next 2 weeks! every day is going to be a new FUN adventure.
