earlier this week, bailey and i went to a developmental movement class at real birth. although she was a little sleepy, she had alot of fun interacting with the other babies, playing with musical instruments, dancing, and hanging out on the yoga mat and bouncy ball. for me, it was a real eye-opener because i learned that bailey needs to be spending more time on the ground without foam padding. this way, she'll learn to push off of the ground and start crawling. the philosophy of the instructor, dionne kamara, is that babies shouldn't be in containers (strollers, bumbos, exersaucers, etc). rather, they should be held in arms or on the earth on backs or bellies.
putting this into practice even over the course of the last 2 days, i've noticed that she's started to enjoy tummy time a lot more. she especially loves doing tummy time and lying on her back outside. maybe she'll be a hippy baby :-)
